====== Refurbishment with Passive House components ====== Existing buildings account for the greatest share of energy used in buildings - worldwide but especially in industrialized countries. A great number of these buildings will require overall or partial refurbishment or modernisation in the upcoming decades. Such occasions are perfect opportunities to reduce the energy consumption of these buildings quite significantly by applying appropriate methods. Using components developed for new Passive Houses also allows for significant energy savings in existing buildings. We call the standard for that "EnerPHit" (**ener**getic refurbishment using **P**assive **H**ouse components **i**n exis**t**ing buildings).\\ \\ **This section contains information on the following topics:** [{{ :picopen:energiebedarf_alt_neh_ph.jpg|**Annual heating demand for an unrefurbished building, a “low-energy”\\ refurbishment, and a refurbishment using Passive House components.**}}] * [[.:refurbishment_with_passive_house_components:passive_house_refurbishment_-_introduction|Passive House refurbishment - introduction]] * [[:certification:enerphit|EnerPHit – the Passive House certificate for existing buildings]] * [[:basics:affordability:investing_in_energy_efficiency:economic_feasibility_of_passive_house_retrofits|]] {{:picopen:members_only.png?25}} * **[[.:refurbishment_with_passive_house_components:thermal_envelope|Passive House retrofits: Thermal envelope]]** * **[[.:refurbishment_with_passive_house_components:mechanical_systems|Passive House retrofits: Mechanical systems]]** {{:picopen:members_only.png?25}} * [[:phi_publications:pb_24:modernising_a_block_of_flats_jean-paul-place_4_nuremberg|A pilot project: modernising a block of flats in Nuremberg]] * [[:construction:quality_assurance:nuremberg_case_study|]] * [[:operation:operation_and_experience:renting_without_heating_bills|]] * [[.:refurbishment_with_passive_house_components:example_of_incentive_programmes_the_kfw_in_germany|]] * [[.:refurbishment_with_passive_house_components:overview_of_inter-dependence_of_individual_energy_efficiency_measures|]] {{:picopen:members_only.png?25}} * [[.:refurbishment_with_passive_house_components:prospects_for_the_modernisation_of_existing_buildings_using_highly_efficient_components|]] * [[:operation:operation_and_experience:measurement_results:minimal_monitoring|]] * [[.:refurbishment_with_passive_house_components:building_integrated_photovoltaics_bipv_in_step_by_step_retrofitting_projects|]] * [[.:refurbishment_with_passive_house_components:practical_implementations_of_step_by_step_retrofit_to_enerphit_standard|]] * [[.:refurbishment_with_passive_house_components:a_road_towards_deep_building_renovation_on_a_step-by-step_basis_in_bulgaria|]] * [[.:refurbishment_with_passive_house_components:economic_analysis_for_the_retrofit_of_a_detached_single_family_house_to_the_enerphit_standard|]] * [[.:refurbishment_with_passive_house_components:the_enerphit_standard_applied_to_large_complex_existing_buildings|]] * {{:picopen:microsoft_word_-_06_fachinfo_schrittweise_modernisierung_sth.pdf|Step-by-step retrofit to achieve EnerPHit-Standard, the example of a single-family home}} * [[.:refurbishment_with_passive_house_components:affordable_ventilation_solutions_for_retrofits_component_award_2016|]] * [[.:refurbishment_with_passive_house_components:windows_in_a_step-by-step_retrofit|]] * [[.:refurbishment_with_passive_house_components:overall_retrofit_plan_for_step-by-step_retrofits_to_enerphit_standard|]] * [[.:refurbishment_with_passive_house_components:step-by-step_deep_retrofit_and_building_integrated_facade_roof_on_a_million_program_house|]] * [[.:refurbishment_with_passive_house_components:step-by-step_retrofits_towards_enerphit_standard_in_social_housing_in_spain|]] * [[:phi_publications:nr.48_heat_losses_towards_the_ground|Heat losses towards the ground]] ====== See also ====== [[:certification:enerphit:nternational_enerphit_certification_criteria_for_energy_retrofit_with_passive_house_components|]] Peer reviewed paper, Energy Efficiency (2022): [[https://rdcu.be/cFgCo|Retrofit with Passive House components]] (pdf) Report [[https://europhit.eu/phpp-step-step-retrofits|Optimisation of the PHPP for old buildings with high energy consumption]] Website of the EU funded [[https://europhit.eu/|EuroPHit project]] with focus phased retrofit solutions, including case studies Website of the EU funded [[https://outphit.eu/en//|outPHit project]] with focus on making deep retrofits faster, cheaper and more reliable [[https://www.passipedia.org/phi_publications#research_group_proceedings|Read more in the Passive House Institute's publications]]
